In the Cloister

Cloister seat

These, which I presume are seats, (I’m not sure if it’s correct to categorise them as sedilla). are placed in the wall of the cloister of the ruin of Kirkstall Abbey, near Leeds, West Yorkshire.  The inner wall of the cloister is no longer present – instead there is now a wide open quadrangle.   Kirkstall Abbey was Cistercian monastery founded in the middle of the 12th Century.
