Nun Monkton Church

View from east end (alter) showing height of arches supporting the west wall/window.  To the south wall are ‘Early Englsh Period’ windows – these are well above head height, reflecting, perhaps, the original function which was as part of a Priory  for Benedictine nuns.  The church is all that remains.   There are neither aisles nor chancel arch – the east end is modern.  (Page to follow.)
